About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineering Manager to join our team at CBRE Global Workplace Solutions (GWS). As a key member of our Engineering and Technical Services team, you will be responsible for supervising a team that handles the operation and maintenance of all building automation systems.

As an Automation Engineering Manager, you will provide formal supervision to employees, monitor their training and development, conduct performance evaluations and coaching, and oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

You will also coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Additionally, you will set and track staff and department goals, mentor and coach as needed, and supervise scope development, work request initiation, scheduling, and inspection of work performed by outside contractors.

Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation engineering, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information. You will also have the ability to calculate difficult figures, such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Responsibilities
  • Provide formal supervision to employees
  • Monitor the training and development of staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations and coaching
  • Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role, including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more
  • Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information
  • Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset
  • Advanced math skills
