Job Title: Child Care Food Service Coordinator

At Melaleuca, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Child Care Food Service Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious meals to children enrolled at Koala Kids Academy.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare meals according to the USDA food guidelines.
  • Purchase food items, place orders, and account for inventory.
  • Budget and plan menus accordingly to stay within budget guidelines.
  • Set up the physical environment to meet the needs of proper food preparation and safety.
  • Maintain a clean environment in the kitchen and food storage area.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance responsibilities regarding kitchen and storage areas.
  • Responsible for CACFP paperwork, including production sheets and daily attendance/meal counts.
  • Provide a typed monthly menu plan to the childcare director.
  • Complete CPR and First Aid Certification.
  • Complete fingerprint clearance and criminal record check.
  • Take the place of the Manager in their absence when purchasing food items and supplies.
  • Attend monthly staff training meetings.
  • Plan, prepare, and implement training meetings regarding the Food Program, proper food handling guidelines, meal count sheets, etc. for staff members.
  • Help out in classrooms when needed.
  • Participate in family activities, including Christmas program, snack with parents, summer picnic, and back to school nights.
  • Complete monthly physical inventory.
  • Standardize CACFP recipes or prepare standardized recipes.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.

  • Demonstrated understanding of preschool and school-age children's growth and development.
  • Ability to work with children warmly, calmly, and unhurriedly.
  • Ability to analyze problems and create solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and professionally.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive areas.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Strong creativity skills.
  • Standing, sitting, or walking for the duration of the shift.
  • Communicate (hearing, speech, and written) with individuals in person and by phone in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Strong customer relation skills for all situations, including conflicts.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Pulling, stretching, bending, and lifting for the duration of the shift.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy.
