As a Telecommunications Engineer I/II - Outside Plant Specialist at Windstream, you will play a crucial role in connecting consumer and small business partners to our leading telecommunications products across the United States. Your primary responsibility will be to design and engineer outside plant facilities, including fiber and copper, to ensure seamless connectivity and high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and engineer outside plant facilities, including fiber and copper, to meet the needs of our customers.
- Assist in the planning, analysis, design, and engineering of outside plant network structures and facilities.
- Organize and coordinate complex activities for the development, construction, implementation, and maintenance of outside plant engineering projects.
- Utilize sound engineering practices and company objectives to resolve issues in a creative and effective way.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships.
- Perform administrative tasks related to projects and assignments.
- Assess situations, collaborate, identify key issues, and solve complex problems.
- Strong technical communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Ability to work in a self-directed work group, collaborate with others, and be a team player.
- Ability to analyze problems and priorities and make decisions.
- A love of solving problems and building solutions.
- A college degree in Engineering or a related field, or 2+ years of technical experience.
- Proficiency in CAD/E, Microstation, AutoCAD, or other similar design programs.
- Previous telecommunication engineering experience or courses in engineering.
- Experience working with city, county, and/or state agencies.
As a Telecommunications Engineer I/II - Outside Plant Specialist, you will spend approximately 70% of your time in the field and 30% in the office. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent travel to various locations. You will also be required to work in a variety of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and humidity.
