Key Responsibilities- Patient Assessment and Care: Conduct thorough and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and assessing the need for interventions.
- Critical Care Services: Provide specialized care to critically ill patients, including those with complex medical conditions, post-surgical recovery, and trauma-related injuries.
- Ventilator Management: Monitor and manage patients on mechanical ventilation, ensuring proper settings and patient comfort.
- Medication Administration: Administer medications, fluids, and blood products as prescribed, and monitor patient responses while maintaining accurate records.
- Collaborative Care: Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies, including code blue situations, and provide immediate life-saving interventions.
- Patient and Family Education: Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Equipment Operation: Competently operate and troubleshoot complex medical equipment used in the ICU.
- Infection Control: Strictly adhere to infection control protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, interventions, and progress notes.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Licensure and Certifications: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice, BLS and ACLS certifications, and additional certifications such as CCRN or TNCC are a plus.
- Experience and Skills: Previous ICU nursing experience is preferred, but new graduates with a strong interest in critical care may be considered. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations, and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
