Sleep Disorders Specialist

Bayview Physicians Group is a rapidly growing outpatient multi-specialty medical group, committed to delivering exceptional patient care and fostering a positive work environment. We are seeking a highly skilled Sleep Technologist to join our team.
Job SummaryThe Sleep Technologist will work under the general supervision of the medical director or designee to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This includes in-center and out-of-center sleep testing, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care, and direct patient education. The ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills, strong collegial relationships, and the ability to promote a positive work environment.
Responsibilities- Collect, analyze, and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs.
- Determine final testing parameters and procedures in conjunction with the ordering physician or clinical director and laboratory protocols.
- Review patient history and verify medical orders.
- Follow sleep center protocols related to sleep studies.
- Explain procedures and orient patients for in-center or out-of-center sleep testing.
- Select appropriate equipment and calibrate for testing to ensure proper functioning.
- Apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards.
- Perform routine positive airway pressure (PAP) interface fitting and desensitization.
- Comply with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and standards regarding safety and infection control issues.
- Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.
- Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification.
- Demonstrate computer skills appropriate for the position.
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate appropriate social skills.
- Demonstrate customer service skills.
- Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrate teamwork skills.
Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential. Also has a current Virginia polysomnographic license and current CPR certification.
