Laboratory Operations Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides comprehensive leadership, communication, and guidance to team members regarding the workflow of departmental tasks to ensure effective execution and performance:
• Guarantees team compliance with established protocols and quality assurance standards;
• Engages in and/or spearheads the formulation of and adherence to all departmental policies and procedures for performance and quality control;
• Acts as a resource for team members, offering oversight and support for training and competency initiatives;
• Evaluates performance against set targets, objectives, or metrics;
• Recognizes opportunities for process enhancements within the department and across laboratory functions for improved efficiency.
Leadership and Development
Provide guidance to direct reports by:
• Facilitating the resolution of organizational challenges encountered;
• Understanding, implementing, and communicating company policies and procedures, as well as fostering a positive workplace culture;
• Supporting team member development through performance reviews, coaching, mentoring, and training opportunities;
• Overseeing team member employment activities such as recruitment, promotions, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as necessary.
Operational Oversight
Monitors workflow and allocates responsibilities to team members:
• Develops staffing strategies to ensure optimal utilization of all team members;
• Addresses operational and quality challenges related to workload;
• Ensures adequate coverage during team member absences;
• Provides support on the workbench as required.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 6-8 years of experience as a Medical Technologist or Supervisor;
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biological Sciences, or a related discipline;
Florida Supervisors license in Chemistry;
Certification from a recognized professional laboratory certifying body (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
