As a Field Interviewer at RTI International, you can expect a competitive salary of $20 to $25 per hour based on experience and geographic location. About the Job
The National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) is a government-sponsored research study that has been conducted since 1971. As a Field Interviewer, you will contact selected households and communicate the importance of participating in NSDUH. Successful field interviewers need to be self-motivated, outgoing, and able to work a variable schedule when respondents are likely at home.
Responsibilities
Field Interviewers are responsible for traveling frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants. They make in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. Field Interviewers collect confidential information and administer standardized questionnaires. They independently manage administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings. Field Interviewers transmit data as scheduled and assume full and legal responsibility for use and care of project-issued equipment. They safeguard any participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft. Field Interviewers submit timely and accurate Time & Expense reports and attend virtually scheduled meetings with other members of the project team. They approach selected households without a prior appointment and work and drive after dark. Field Interviewers participate in weekly scheduled calls with the Field Supervisor and maintain required system updates to project equipment and completion of administrative tasks.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates must be at least 21 years old at the time of employment. They must possess a High School Diploma or GED and have effective communication skills through speech and listening. Candidates must also be fluent in English through reading, writing, and speaking. They must be available for the entire training and data collection period and able to successfully complete training. A valid driver's license and reliable personal automobile available for business use are also required. Additionally, candidates must be comfortable using RTI-issued tablets, laptops, and other associated equipment. Access to password-protected WiFi connections for data transmission and administrative responsibilities is necessary. Candidates must be able to keep project information confidential and willing to work in various types of weather conditions and after dark.
