Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Fitness Specialist - Health Promotion Professional to join our team at the Chelsea Wellness Center. This role is responsible for providing professional fitness services, delivering exceptional customer experiences, and promoting wellness programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Fitness Floor Supervision and Instruction: Deliver high-quality fitness services, including basic exercise instruction, to members, guests, and medically integrated program participants.
- Health History Screening and Medical Clearance: Screen health history information, coordinate medical clearance processes, and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Scheduling and Appointment Management: Schedule and perform appointments for fitness assessments, orientations, and follow-up sessions, adhering to established procedures.
- Fitness Assessment Results and Program Recommendations: Deliver and explain fitness assessment results, provide exercise guidelines, and offer personalized program recommendations to members.
- Medical Emergency Response: Respond promptly to medical emergencies, bring necessary first aid supplies, and complete incident reports.
- Ancillary Service Promotion: Effectively promote and sell personal training, medically integrated programs, wellness coaching, and nutrition services.
- Event Awareness and Facility Rounds: Maintain knowledge of center events, perform facility rounds, and monitor pool, locker rooms, and fitness areas.
- Opening and Closing Procedures: Perform opening and closing duties on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Cleanliness and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness of fitness areas, inspect equipment, and report required maintenance or repair.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree: A 4-year college or university degree in a health-related field, exercise science, kinesiology, or physical education is required.
- Part-time Experience: Prior part-time work experience or internship in the fitness industry is preferred.
- CPR/AED Certification: Obtain CPR/AED certification within 90 days of hire (provided by Power Wellness).
- Nationally Recognized Certification: Possess a nationally recognized NCCA-accredited certification, if applicable.
- Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work positively with members, and maintain a professional demeanor.
- Computer Proficiency: Show proficiency in computer skills.
Salary Information: This position is estimated to be approximately $18-22 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience, based on national averages for similar positions in the United States.
