JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION SUMMARY

The Culinary Supervisor plays a vital role in overseeing the dietary department, ensuring that all staff adhere to established protocols and standards. This position is crucial for maintaining the quality of food service within the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and guide dietary personnel, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Dietary Manager in evaluating staff performance and managing work assignments.
  • Prepare and serve meals tailored to the dietary requirements of residents, ensuring satisfaction and nutritional needs are met.
  • Collaborate with the Dietary Manager on production planning, including forecasting needs and recipe development.
  • Manage the procurement and storage of food supplies and kitchen equipment.
  • Ensure the dietary department delivers visually appealing and high-quality meals while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Utilize kitchen equipment effectively and accommodate the special needs of residents.
  • Respond promptly to resident requests and assist in planning for special events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Serv Safe Manager certification is required.
  • Physical ability to lift items up to 50 lbs and stock groceries at various heights.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English, with basic math skills for measuring and recording data.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Experience in supervising and instructing staff.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or long-term care setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and cooperation in assisting colleagues.
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Exhibit patience, tact, and a positive demeanor towards residents and their families.
  • Effective communication skills with residents, staff, and family members.
