Responsibilities
Nursing encompasses the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, the prevention of illness and injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human responses, and advocacy for individuals, families, communities, and populations. Our clinical nurses at Garnet Health Medical Center adhere to the New York State Nurse Practice Act and the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics, alongside our internal guidelines for nursing quality and safety.

Clinical nurses are empowered to enhance the healthcare system by providing safe, timely, effective, equitable, and patient-centered care. They embrace the Essential Features of Professional Nursing as outlined by the ANA, which include:

Qualifications
Licensure:
Active New York State Nursing License in Good Standing; adherence to the New York Department of Education Nursing Licensure Board recommendations.

Education:
Associate, Baccalaureate (preferred), Master's, or Doctorate Degree in Nursing from an Accredited School of Nursing.

Required Experience:
1 year of Critical Care experience. Eligible candidates for the ICU Orientation Program must have either 2 years of Medical-Surgical or 1 year of Medical-Telemetry/Progressive Care experience.

Preferred Experience:
Emergency Department experience is recommended.

Mandatory Training:
TNCC, ACLS, and PALS required within specified timeframes.
