Marine Equipment Technician

We are seeking a skilled Marine Equipment Technician to join our team at Illinois Marine Towing. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing engines and equipment onboard our vessels and barges.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on towboats and barge machinery/equipment, including oil changes and engine overhauls.
• Troubleshoot equipment/engine problems and provide on-site service and repair.
• Provide electrical system repair and non-routine maintenance as needed.
• Collaborate with our team to ensure all equipment is in good working order and meets safety standards.
Requirements
• 1-3 years of experience in repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting machinery and equipment, preferably in the marine industry or as a diesel technician.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar 3512B, Cummins, K19, K38, QSK50, and QSK19 engines preferred.
• Familiarity with electrical systems and ability to work independently and follow instructions.
• Ability to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC).
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this role include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stooping, lifting heavy marine equipment, and working outdoors in all elements during all seasons.
