The role of the MEP Superintendent is pivotal in overseeing and directing all tasks associated with the initiation and commissioning of mechanical, electrical, and control systems, ensuring alignment with contractual agreements and project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the bidding process for mechanical and electrical trades.
  • Oversee the procurement of equipment.
  • Create and manage the critical path schedule for MEP activities.
  • Coordinate and monitor essential construction and startup tasks.
  • Organize and track the delivery of equipment.
  • Evaluate mechanical and electrical submittals.
  • Lead and organize project meetings focused on critical MEP tasks.
  • Develop Method of Procedure (MOP) for significant work in active environments.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and design teams to resolve MEP conflicts.
  • Supervise and manage the quality assurance process for MEP systems construction.
  • Oversee the startup and pre-testing phases of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate and assist with third-party commissioning efforts.
  • Manage documentation related to commissioning.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in construction, engineering, or business is highly preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Mechanical or Electrical System Construction.
  • At least 3 years of combined experience in Mission Critical Construction, Hospital Construction, MEP Project Management, or Mechanical and Electrical System Startup and Commissioning.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership capabilities; adept at team building and management.
  • Proficient in coordinating and scheduling MEP operations.
  • Strong problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Proficient in utilizing computer and software technologies in job functions.
  • Experience in preconstruction and equipment procurement.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
