Job Overview: The Brick and Block Construction Specialist will be tasked with utilizing bricks, concrete blocks, and various stone materials to build foundations, walls, fences, and other structures.
Primary Duties:
- Build walls, foundations, fences, pathways, and roads using bricks, stone, concrete blocks, or marble.
- Shape and construct surfaces and structures with bricks or concrete blocks.
- Position brick or concrete blocks on a mortar bed.
- Trim bricks to fit around openings such as windows and doors using appropriate tools.
- Finish surfaces of concrete.
- Measure distances and plan work layouts.
- Prepare mortar and grout for brick or block installation.
- Apply mortar onto brick or block surfaces.
- Examine brickwork to ensure structural integrity.
- Carry out additional assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of brick/block laying methods.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints.
- Physically capable of performing the labor required for brick and block construction.
- Able to lift weights up to 80 pounds and work in diverse environments.
- Prior experience in the construction field.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and compliance regulations.
- Successful completion of a drug/background check.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, along with three years of relevant experience.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of a Technical/Vocational School Program.
- Possession of OSHA 10 certification is preferred.
