Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Audiologist to join our team at Lifespan. As an Audiologist, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluation services for auditory and vestibular disorders, evaluating and selecting hearing instruments and cochlear implants, and providing aural rehabilitation to assist patients regain or utilize their hearing abilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, rehabilitation staff, providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Evaluate patients to determine the degree and type of hearing loss.
  • Establish diagnosis and prognosis for hearing improvement through the use of artificial aids based on patient symptoms.
  • Perform specialized testing, such as site of lesion auditory brainstem response testing, otoacoustic emissions, and vestibular evoked potentials.
  • Measure and interpret auditory evoked potentials for neurophysiologic inter-operative monitoring and cranial nerve assessment.
  • Provide education and counseling to patients and caregivers regarding rehabilitation test results, aids, and expectations of hearing impairment.
  • Fit, program, and dispense hearing aids, and monitor their use.
  • Provide audiological rehabilitation, including speech reading, communication management, language development, auditory skill development, and counseling for psychosocial adjustment to hearing loss.
Requirements
  • Masters degree in Audiology from an accredited institution, or Doctoral degree in Audiology from an accredited institution if initial licensure is January or later.
  • State license issued by the Rhode Island Department of Health.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) or the American Academy of Audiology (AAA).
  • Minimum of one-year experience, including a one-year clinical externship.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
