Electrical Engineer (Commissioning) Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with a focus on Building Retro-Commissioning to join our team at RightWorks Inc.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough energy assessments of electrical systems and energy usage within buildings, industrial plants, or other facilities.
  • Identify areas where energy is being wasted or used inefficiently, analyzing lighting systems, HVAC systems, motors, control systems, and other electrical components.
  • Analyze data related to energy consumption, including trends and patterns in usage, to understand where improvements can be made to reduce energy consumption and costs.
  • Develop strategies and propose solutions to improve energy efficiency, suggesting upgrades to energy-efficient equipment, implementing control systems, recommending behavioral changes, or proposing renewable energy solutions.
  • Compile detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and potential cost savings, often presented to clients or stakeholders to propose and justify energy-saving measures.
  • Ensure that all recommended solutions comply with relevant energy codes, regulations, and industry standards.
Requirements:
  • Certification as a commissioning authority through an industry-recognized certification process, such as Commissioning Authority (CxA), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), or Building Commissioning Professional Certification (BCxP).
  • At least one of the following combinations of educational and related experience requirements: a four-year engineering degree (preferably in electrical) with a minimum of 5 years of experience working with building and site electrical systems, or a two-year technical degree with a minimum of 8 years of experience working with electrical systems.
  • Strong technical expertise in energy systems, electrical engineering, and building systems, as well as communication, data analysis, and the capacity to convert technical knowledge into useful suggestions.
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Programs such as Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Project, and Power Point.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
  • Possession of one or more of the following certifications will be advantageous: Registered Professional Engineer (PE), International Electrical Testing Association (NETA), Level 3 or Level 4, or the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET).
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous: practical hands-on experience working within the Department of Defense, conducting energy audits, performing life-cycle cost analyses, preparing and presenting formal multimedia presentations, or training others.
