Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Scientist to join our Due Diligence team at The Vertex Companies. As an Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for conducting Phase 1 Environmental Assessments and Property Condition Assessments for our national clients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) Phase 1 as per ASTM standards, ensuring accurate and thorough assessments of environmental conditions.
  • Conduct Property Condition Assessments (PCA) as per ASTM standards, evaluating the physical condition of properties and identifying potential environmental hazards.
  • Write detailed client-facing reports including the preparation of accurate data/summary tables and/or figures, providing clear and concise recommendations for clients.
  • Assist senior managers in the coordination of work activities for multiple project functions, ensuring timely and satisfactory delivery of projects.
  • Assist senior managers in meeting milestones, budgetary limits, deadlines, or other performance indicators, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Assist in the selection and/or management of project staff members and subcontractors, ensuring the right team is in place to deliver high-quality results.
  • Prepare and implement Health and Safety Plans/Job Safety Analyses for sites, ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned, including supporting the development of new business opportunities and contributing to the growth and success of the company.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or related environmental field required, with a strong foundation in environmental principles and practices.
  • 2+ years of professional experience in an environmental scientist role conducting ASTM Phase I assessments and Property Condition Assessments, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM assessment standards, including the ability to apply these standards in a practical and effective manner.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical information to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong technical report writing skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports that meet client needs.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and handle multiple priorities, with a strong focus on meeting deadlines and delivering results.
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite required, with a strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability/willingness for frequent national travel for field work, with a valid driver's license and a strong ability to adapt to changing travel schedules.
