Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice-President or Pharmacy Director, the Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing clinical and distributive pharmacy services in alignment with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and federal and state pharmacy laws.
The Manager will develop and implement a hiring and retention strategy for pharmacy staff while ensuring an effective scheduling system that adheres to the departmental budget.
Active participation in relevant management teams is expected to promote standardization and integration across various departments and facilities.
Additionally, the Manager will provide leadership and service to various organizational committees, including Pharmacy and Therapeutics and other medical staff committees as required.
The Pharmacy Operations Manager will also ensure patient care aligns with applicable regulations and Avera's mission by overseeing optimal medication therapy, processing medication orders, and delivering pharmaceutical information to staff and patients based on specific job responsibilities.
Effective problem-solving skills are essential, along with a commitment to personal accountability for both patient and departmental outcomes.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities encompass interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining pharmacy personnel; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating departmental performance and implementing necessary improvement plans; managing employee performance; and addressing complaints and resolving issues.
Education and/or Experience:
A Doctor of Pharmacy degree is preferred.
Completion of an ASHP Accredited PGY1 (and PGY2) Pharmacy Residency is preferred.
Three to five years of experience in pharmacy finance is preferred.
A Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
A Registered Pharmacist license in the state of South Dakota is required.
Additional state licensure may be necessary.
Work Schedule:
Primarily Days with occasional weekend/holiday involvement
