Clinic Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7 am-6 pm; Saturdays, 8 am-4:00 pm.
Compensation:
Starting at $19.00/hr.
Position Overview:
The Veterinary Technician / Patient Care Coordinator will assist veterinarians in examinations and medical procedures.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication with colleagues and clients, possess strong attention to detail, and maintain organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold the Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Lead support staff to ensure smooth shift operations.
- Mentor team members for professional growth and personal development.
- Provide patient care under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian.
- Ensure clear communication with clients.
- Accurately document all relevant medical, client, and case-related information.
- Review medical records and discharge instructions with clients.
- Address client inquiries regarding basic animal care and procedures; confidently refer medical questions to veterinarians when necessary.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in various skills including laboratory work, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, patient handling, and nursing.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
- Capable of managing a fast-paced environment.
- Competent in administering SQ injections.
- Knowledgeable about common prescription drugs, their usage, dosage, and side effects, with the ability to explain them to clients.
- Familiar with anesthesia protocols and monitoring surgical patients during procedures and recovery.
- Skilled in extubation, temperature monitoring, and recovery from anesthesia.
- Strong reasoning, memory, mathematical, and language skills (reading, writing, and speaking English) necessary for job performance.
- Comfortable working with animals.
