Float Nurse Opportunity with University Health Services

Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse looking for a new challenge? Do you have a strong background in emergency department nursing and a desire to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? If so, we encourage you to apply for the Float Nurse position at University Health Services. This is a 50% duty time position, working 16-24 hours per week, with a day shift schedule (6:45am-3:15pm) and includes every other weekend. The position operates from August through May ONLY, with summers off.
About the Salary:
The estimated salary for this position is around $85,000-$110,000 per year, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
Responsibilities:
* Conduct telephone and in-person triage following established protocols.
* Administer independent nursing appointments for students who do not need a provider visit, including sick visits, STI testing, birth control consultations, options counseling, emergency contraception, vaccine administration, and allergy immunotherapy injections.
* Support Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants in their clinical duties.
* Assess and monitor patients with urgent concerns until a final decision or medical evaluation is completed.
* Administer treatments and medications as required based on standing orders
* Provide patient education on health management and preventative care.
* Perform point-of-care testing as needed.
Requirements:
* Active New Jersey Registered Nurse licensure in good standing.
* 3-5 years of nursing experience in an emergency department setting (Candidates without emergency department experience will not be considered unless they have college health experience)
* Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
* Experience in telephone and in-person triage
* Certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
* Proficiency in basic nursing procedures, including venipuncture, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections; nebulizer treatments; wound care; and infection prevention.
* Ability to conduct thorough physical assessments and identify both normal and abnormal signs and symptoms independently.
* Competence in administering treatments and medications in accordance with established protocols.
* Physical capability to move and assist patients, navigate the unit, and stand for extended periods.
* Strong independent decision-making skills.
* Effective in delegating tasks clearly and comfortably to others.
* Ability to manage stressful situations and maintain composure under pressure.
* Efficient use of human and material resources.
* Customer service-oriented approach.
