  • Administers therapeutic procedures such as injections, suturing, and wound management in both clinical and hospital environments.
  • Performs hospital rounds for surgical consultations and oversees pre- and post-operative patients.
  • Assists supervising physicians with discharge planning and follow-up care coordination.
  • Acts as the surgical first assistant during operative procedures, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
  • Maintains operational efficiency in both clinic and surgical settings.
  • Participates in on-call services to support surgical needs, including emergency care.
  • Educates patients and their families about surgical procedures and recovery processes.
  • Documents all patient interactions and care provided in accordance with established protocols.
  • Contributes to the development of staff by sharing knowledge and providing mentorship to physician assistant students.
  • Implements processes to enhance workflow efficiency while maintaining a risk-averse environment.
  • Upholds a safe and compliant working environment by adhering to policies and regulations.
  • Promotes a culture of safety and quality, prioritizing patient and employee well-being.
  • Respects patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Engages in ongoing professional development, fulfilling educational requirements and maintaining certifications.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Extensive understanding of diagnostic and treatment techniques for surgical patients.
  • Proficient in delivering patient-centered care and evaluating satisfaction levels.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, utilizing scientific methods to address patient care challenges.

Education and Experience:

  • Master's Degree in Advanced Practice Nursing.

Preferred Experience:

  • Two years of experience in neurosurgery or a related surgical specialty.
  • Two years of experience assisting in surgical procedures.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Valid ARNP License in the State of Florida.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Commitment to ongoing education to maintain licensure.
