Job Summary:

The Staff Nurse, Interventional Pulmonary is responsible for providing competent, compassionate nursing care to patients undergoing interventional pulmonary procedures. This includes pre-procedure assessment, administration of moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring during procedures, and post-procedure recovery and teaching.

Responsibilities:
  • Provides and maintains a therapeutic environment for patients and families.
  • Articulates the role of the Staff Nurse to the patient, family, and health team members.
  • Provides experienced patient care throughout the entire procedural process.
  • Identifies, facilitates, and evaluates outcomes of nursing care for individual patients or groups of patients.
  • Coordinates involvement of the patient, family, and health team members in patient care, including patient/family teaching and discharge planning.
  • Documents relevant patient information.
  • Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other health team members.
  • Helps define standards of excellence for patient care and participates in improvement of patient care services in a cost-effective manner.
Requirements:
  • Current Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
  • 2-3 years ICU, critical care, ED, or procedural experience required.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence in the area of nursing practice predominant on the unit.
Working Conditions:

The Staff Nurse, Interventional Pulmonary will work in a hospital procedural setting with both inpatient and outpatient volume. The position requires exposure to some radiation during fluoroscopy procedures and exposure to blood, waste products, and contagious diseases.
