Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate ultrasound exams with nursing units, radiologists, and referring physicians to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Perform ultrasound exams in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, utilizing your expertise to deliver exceptional results.
  • Provide excellent patient care, addressing their needs and concerns throughout the exam process.
  • Operate ultrasound and associated equipment with proficiency, ensuring efficient and effective use of resources.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to perform invasive procedures, leveraging your skills to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Evaluate the technical quality of exams and develop strategies to improve efficiency and productivity in the department.
  • Support the Patient-Centered Care Philosophy by recognizing the importance of every staff member as a caregiver, dedicated to meeting the needs of each patient.
  • Report equipment malfunctions to the Assistant Director, Lead Sonographer, and/or Engineer, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Utilize the Radiology computer system to enter and charge exams and supplies, maintaining accurate records and facilitating smooth operations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, adhering to departmental rules and regulations while performing in a professional manner.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (S) with specialty in Vascular.
  • One additional specialty examination required: AB (Abdomen), BR (Breast), OB/GYN (Obstetrics and Gynecology), PS (Pediatric), or MSKS (Musculoskeletal).
  • RVT and/or CCI registry required.
  • One year of experience in a related field.
  • Graduate of a comprehensive medical diagnostic ultrasound program preferred.
  • BLS HCP certification from AHA required.

Physical Demands

This role requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies up to 600 pounds with assistance. You will need to be able to walk, stand, reach, stoop, bend, push, pull, and lift during normal operation. Additionally, you will require mental skills to read and comprehend patient orders and technical materials, as well as motor coordination to operate heavy and delicate equipment. Intact sense of sight and hearing are also essential for this role.
