POSITION SUMMARY
The Rehabilitation Unit Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for the assigned rehabilitation unit, delivering essential clerical support and maintaining operational efficiency. This role involves managing supply inventories, performing routine inspections, and facilitating communication among patients, visitors, healthcare professionals, and staff.
Demonstrating a commitment to service excellence, the coordinator leads by example and mentors colleagues in their responsibilities. Each team member is expected to prioritize exceptional customer service, promptly addressing patient needs and coordinating with appropriate personnel when necessary.
Understanding the importance of confidentiality, the coordinator adheres to HIPAA regulations and ensures patient safety is a top priority, actively encouraging patient involvement in their care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Acts as the first point of contact, welcoming and assisting patients, families, and staff with professionalism and courtesy.
- Manages incoming and outgoing communications, ensuring confidentiality and relaying critical information to the appropriate parties.
- Maintains accurate patient charts and documentation, ensuring all forms are complete and properly filed.
- Schedules patient appointments and procedures, ensuring timely communication of discharge plans and follow-up care.
- Collaborates with vendors for equipment rentals and maintains operational logs as required.
- Supports unit policies and procedures, including inventory management, patient transport, and safety protocols.
- Engages in continuous quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the rehabilitation program.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Performs various clerical tasks as directed by management, including data entry and document preparation.
- Assists in patient transport and ensures a positive experience during their stay.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent communication skills are essential, along with a collaborative approach to patient care. Knowledge of medical terminology is critical, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is preferred. Bilingual capabilities are a plus.
EXPERIENCE
Previous experience in a healthcare setting as a Unit Secretary or Administrative Assistant is preferred.
EDUCATION
A High School diploma or equivalent is required, with additional training in medical terminology or healthcare administration being advantageous.
