Overview

Turner & Townsend is a global consultancy that delivers transformational programs across the real estate, infrastructure, and natural resources sectors. We are seeking an experienced Mechanical or MEP Estimator to join our team.

About the Role

The successful candidate will provide mechanical estimates and cost consulting for commercial, data center, industrial, and high-tech building projects. The role involves producing and presenting final cost plans, estimating at various levels, and participating in feasibility studies and procurement reports.

Responsibilities

  • Provide estimate and cost planning services, including producing and presenting final cost plans.
  • Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Assist with feasibility studies and writing procurement reports.
  • Manage all aspects of procurement, including pre-qualification, bid list production, bid analysis, bid report creation, and contractual document compilation.
  • Participate in post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Manage cost checks, carry out valuations on larger projects, and ensure timely and accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
  • Contribute to value engineering, negotiate final accounts, and maintain liaison with clients and other consultants throughout project stages.
  • Lead the cost management team when necessary and ensure delivery of accountabilities.
  • Identify opportunities for new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the line manager.
  • Identify improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to the line manager.

Requirements

  • Good technical experience in all cost management areas: pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD Navisworks, and/or related computer software.
  • Good organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
  • Good knowledge of all methods of construction procurement.
  • Experience advising clients on value management, value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • Experience with key aspects of business development.
  • Good knowledge and experience gained within several industry sectors.

Qualifications

  • College degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveyor, or related technical field.
  • Experience in commercial and high-tech real estate construction.
  • Experience preparing large-scale mechanical cost estimates.
  • Good understanding of all mechanical aspects relating to construction projects.
  • Construction experience with mechanical and plumbing systems is a plus.

Salary

$85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
