The Lactation Counselor at Women & Infants Hospital provides expert breastfeeding instruction and assistance to postpartum women on an in-patient basis. The incumbent monitors patient technique, addresses concerns of lactating women, and provides referrals for special needs or post-discharge follow up. This role requires close coordination with the healthcare team and meticulous documentation of patient records.
Requirements:
High school graduate; Associate's Degree preferred. Successful completion of an approved Certified Lactation Counselor program and current CPR certification are mandatory. The ideal candidate will have maternal/child health experience and demonstrated ability to work with groups and individuals. Fluency in English is required, with Spanish fluency highly desirable.
