The Travel Nurse RN role is a vital position within our healthcare team, focusing on providing exceptional care in specialized telemetry units.
Certification Requirements- Certifications: BLS, ACLS
- Skills: Proficiency in EKG monitoring is essential.
- Interpretation: RNs in centralized telemetry must demonstrate the ability to interpret EKGs.
- Mandatory Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- Dysrhythmia Exam: Required 24-48 hours prior to position acceptance, with a maximum of 2 attempts allowed.
- Orientation: Pass/fail simulation lab on the first day.
- Minimum Experience: 2 years of relevant nursing experience is required.
- Shift Structure: Self-scheduling with 12-hour shifts (7 AM - 7 PM).
- Weekend Commitment: Every other weekend is expected.
- Holiday Coverage: 2 major and 2 minor holidays based on contract.
- On-Call Duties: None, subject to census fluctuations.
- Units: B3A - Cardiopulmonary Telemetry & Neuro, B3B - CHF Telemetry.
- Capacity: 30 beds per unit.
- Nurse Ratios: 1:3-4.
- Support Staff: Charge Nurse/House Supervisor on duty without patient assignment; PCTs available at a ratio of 1 per 15 patients.
- Equipment: Nasal Cannula, Bipap/Cpap for obstructive sleep apnea only.
- Floating Requirements: Flexibility to float to any telemetry floor.
- Dress Code: Navy scrubs.
- Orientation: 2 days of unit/department-specific training.
- Common Patient Diagnoses: CHF, general telemetry, fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, alcohol-related issues, etc.
- Floating Policy: First to float as needed.
- Holiday Rotation: Holidays are rotated among core staff.
