Position Overview


This role is accountable for overseeing various data streams in a continuous operational setting to promptly identify, authenticate, and react effectively to cyber threats, such as:

exploitation of vulnerabilities, malicious software, cyber intrusions, etc.; acting as a technical escalation point and offering guidance to Tier 1 Security Operations Center (SOC) analysts; collaborating with diverse teams and personnel; working alongside fellow SOC analysts and specialists within the broader Cyber defense unit, including cyber threat hunters, intelligence analysts, and forensic specialists; actively participating in red-team/blue-team simulated exercises and tabletop scenarios; partnering with Security Design and Architecture Engineers to enhance and refine technology and processes that bolster SOC monitoring, investigation, and response capabilities.



NOTE:
This position can be based in various locations. Relocation assistance is not available; sponsorship is not an option.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of relevant experience in roles such as SOC Analyst, Incident Response, Cybersecurity Threat Analyst OR 8 years of related experience OR 8 years of military experience.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the capacity to exercise sound judgment.
  • Proficient oral and written communication abilities.
  • Keen attention to detail in performing analyses, coupled with the ability to accurately document all findings.
  • Experience with event analysis utilizing SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, ArcSight).
  • Skills in log parsing and analysis, along with experience in developing and refining correlation rules.
  • Familiarity with NIDS/HIPS/EDR tools and infrastructure.
  • Experience in signature development/management (e.g., Snort rules, Yara rules).
  • Proficient in protocol analysis and tools (e.g., Wireshark, Gigastor, Netwitness).
  • Experienced in mentoring and training junior analysts.
  • Working knowledge of the current cyber threat landscape (e.g., threat actors, APT, cyber-crime).
  • Familiarity with Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
  • Understanding of Firewall and Proxy technologies.
  • Knowledge of malware operations and indicators.
  • Understanding of Data Loss Prevention monitoring.
  • Familiarity with forensic techniques.
* Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, network layers, Ethernet, ARP, etc.)
* Knowledge of penetration testing techniques
* Knowledge of DDoS mitigation strategies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Experience in an enterprise environment with tools such as ArcSight, Sourcefire, TrendMicro DDI, Splunk, or Hadoop.
  • Background in System or Network Administration, Penetration Testing, or Application Development.
  • Preferred Security Certifications (including but not limited to):
o Cybersecurity Nexus (CSX) Practitioner
o Certified Incident Handler (GCIH)
o Certified Intrusion Analyst (GIAC)
o Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP)
o Certified Expert Penetration Tester (CEPT)
o Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
o Networking Certifications (CCNA, etc.)
o Platform Certifications (Microsoft, Linux, Solaris, etc).
