About the Opportunity

The Sr. Project Manager position is a key role within the BTS division at Abbott, working out of our Lake County, IL or St. Paul, MN location. As a trusted business partner and enabler, you will work with various Manufacturing Execution Systems platforms within the Abbott landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead large project deliveries or functional areas within an overall program, owning performance and outcomes.
  • Interface with senior management on significant matters, coordinating activity across organization units.
  • Partner with senior product and program teams to plan and organize milestones.
  • Establish priorities of project teams, select methods and techniques to lead a project to completion.
  • Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking schedules, identifying risks, and developing contingency plans.
  • Provide project management consultation and mentorship of various project phases and deliverables.
  • Resolve project issues by working with product managers, customers, and partners.
  • Measure performance to ensure the project is progressing as compared to the original plan and budget.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.
Strategic Collaboration
  • Liaise with manufacturing partners to align on vision, outcomes, goals, roadmaps, and business cases.
  • Draft project plans, estimate project effort, and resource requirements using standard estimating techniques and tools.
  • Represent the voice of the customer within the organization, understanding user experience and evolving needs and workflows.
  • Support Project Capital spending requests, including delivery estimates.
Coaching and Development
  • Supervise, motivate, and mentor cross-functional/cross-divisional project teams.
  • Ensure project teams adhere to a lean, iterative mindset with a quality focus.
  • Generate ideas to improve team efficiency, effectiveness, and impact.
  • Motivate and coach the team to reach goals and achieve deliverables.
  • Assist in developing and implementing standard project management process methods and provide training.
Communication
  • Communicate project status through standard status reports and departmental, program, and project status updates meetings.
  • Communicate project progress by producing project reports to provide timely and accurate project status and decision support information.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating a commitment to business priorities and high performance.
  • Communicate with the team, program, product leadership, and key stakeholders frequently and effectively.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 7-10 years' experience in project management, software development, or deployment, or manufacturing operations.
  • IT and manufacturing/engineering project management experience in large or mid-sized multinational health care, medical device, or consumer goods organizations is preferred.
  • Experience with GxP validation/compliance is required.
  • Strong leadership skills and a passion for translating findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess customer/client needs, creatively approach solutions, decide, and influence appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to define areas of potential value through user research, market research, and industry/technical understanding.
  • Ability to look at a set of needs across the business and identify key questions, themes, and potential for business impact.
  • Mature communicator capable of ruthless prioritization, gracious compromise, and quick decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Broad and deep knowledge in Supply Chain business processes and technologies with a focus in Manufacturing Systems.
  • Working knowledge of the following systems is desired: Siemens Opcenter, POMS, SAP, Infinity QS Proficient SPC, Rockwell Factory Talk, Emerson.
  • Commercial experience and/or healthcare experience is considered a plus.
  • PMP, Prince2 certification is considered a plus.
