Key Responsibilities:

  • Enhance, sustain, and repair all machinery utilized in production and distribution by diagnosing mechanical and electrical challenges.
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, devices, and fixtures, ensuring compliance with applicable codes.
  • Implement and execute tailored maintenance strategies to meet specific plant performance objectives.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Leadership to assess production targets and schedules, adjusting maintenance activities as necessary.
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing maintenance tasks.
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring and equipment.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards while maintaining accurate records for compliance.
  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance on manufacturing systems and equipment in a multi-craft environment, including instrumentation and mechanical repairs.
  • Provide continuous automated process monitoring and respond appropriately as needed.
  • Work with the Maintenance Planner to manage inventory through ordering, receiving, and tracking usage.
  • Perform Preventative (PM), Predictive (PdM), and Corrective Maintenance to maximize the lifespan of machinery.
  • Offer training and guidance to fellow technicians on basic maintenance of complex equipment.
  • Exhibit strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical domains.
  • Report any unsafe or damaged equipment to leadership and recommend repair or replacement.
  • Oversee contractors as required.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by Maintenance Leadership.
  • Commit to a culture of safety accountability.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Prior maintenance and electrical experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Preventative Maintenance (PM) programs.
  • Experienced with hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Adept at troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues and developing effective maintenance plans.
  • Skilled in using electrical testing instruments.
  • Associates degree or certification in a technical field is preferred.
  • Completion of Mechatronics Certifications for Levels 1-7 is a plus.
  • 5-7 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting, ideally in food production.
  • Familiar with standard practices for mechanical and electrical component maintenance and repair.
  • Proficient in various PLC programming languages.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly.
  • Knowledge of Safe Quality Foods (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), and Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with engineering teams on projects and equipment design.
  • Working knowledge of standard mechanical maintenance practices.
  • Proficient with office technology tools, including MS Office.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
  • Capable of operating basic machining equipment (lathe, mill, drill press).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Meijer leadership.
  • Understanding of computer theory, programmable logic controls (PLC), and experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).
