Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Physical Therapist Assistant Program Director to lead our PTA program at Pima Medical Institute. The successful candidate will have a strong background in physical therapy education, clinical experience, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Supervise the activities of the department staff, prepare teaching assignments, and determine, establish, and implement department goals.
  • Student Success: Review student success rates by class, implement plans to reduce student withdrawals, and maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught in the program.
  • Department Budget: Monitor the department budget and expenditures, make corrections, and changes to maintain a profitable program.
  • Education and Training: Coordinate and arrange for educational workshops and in-services for didactic and clinical faculty, prepare didactic instruction, and evaluate student performance.
  • Clinical Education: Coordinate the clinical and didactic education for the PTA program, visit clinical sites to review and evaluate students' clinical performance, and ensure compliance with accreditation criteria.
  • Accreditation and Compliance: Ensure Pima notifies CAPTE of all program changes, assist in submission of required fees and documentation, and maintain continuing accreditation through the appropriate authorities.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and maintain a functional curriculum according to approved design, evaluate course content, and review new texts.
Requirements
  • Education: Master's degree from an institution accredited by a regional or national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of full-time or equivalent post licensure experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant, including a minimum of three (3) full-time years or equivalent of clinical experience.
  • Certifications: Physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who is licensed, registered, or has certification according to regulations in the state in which the program is located.
  • Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, and other computer skills.
