  • Maintain smooth operation of LAN, WAN, and VPN networks
  • Plan, evaluate, and coordinate the installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network(s)
  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnections and interfacing
  • Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements are satisfied based on future needs and current usage
  • Prepare and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
  • Coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment
  • Design network or portion of network that includes selection of hardware and software packages
  • Plan, manage, and implement network designs in support of customer requirements in collaboration with team
  • Develop technical solutions to technical problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
  • Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements and provide design solutions, in accordance with standards
  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems
  • Document network hardware and software technology components
  • Install and configure routers, switches and firewalls, including but not limited to: Cisco, Palo Alto, HP, Dell, and Juniper devices
  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, 802.1q trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree, and protocols
  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems
  • Provide after-hours and weekend support
  • Work independently without direct supervision
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignments
  • Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3, etc.)
  • Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments
  • Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems in accordance with established SLA requirements
  • When necessary, configure HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and write procedures
  • When necessary, use network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.) to troubleshoot networking issues
