This position involves delivering comprehensive training in first aid, CPR, and AED to both staff and community members. You will be instrumental in equipping participants with essential lifesaving skills, ensuring they are confident and prepared for emergency situations.
Your collaboration with the YMCA will be vital in achieving our training objectives. We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic individual who values a flexible schedule, including availability during days, evenings, and weekends to meet training demands.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To excel in this role, you must effectively perform each essential duty and meet the qualifications outlined below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to fulfill the essential functions.
- Conduct American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED courses for staff and community members, ensuring all sessions are engaging, informative, and compliant with American Red Cross and YMCA standards.
- Collaborate with the HR Trainer to develop and implement an annual in-service training calendar.
- Monitor and assess the effectiveness of program participation and activities, adjusting as necessary to meet community needs and YMCA objectives.
- Establish and expand program activities within the community in alignment with strategic and operational plans.
- Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with local organizations.
- Accurately complete and submit all required documentation, including attendance records, course evaluations, and participant certifications.
- Stay informed about current first aid and CPR techniques and engage in ongoing professional development to maintain instructor certification.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold a current American Red Cross Instructor Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED or be willing to obtain certification prior to commencing the role.
Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include:
- Completion of Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff
- Training on Working with Program Volunteers
- Bloodborne Pathogens training
- Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications
Prior teaching or training experience is preferred. The ability to connect effectively with diverse groups from various social and economic backgrounds is essential. Demonstrated leadership skills in a friendly, assertive, and professional manner are required. Strong organizational and time management skills, along with a keen attention to detail, are necessary.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) are vital, as is the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with program participants, members, directors, and staff.
Physical requirements include sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential job functions and supervise program activities, with the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Salary: $15.00 per hour
