POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to provide exceptional respiratory therapy services as prescribed by healthcare providers. This role involves creating comprehensive care plans based on thorough assessments and established standards, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Administer medications with a strong understanding of relevant policies and procedures.
  • Assemble, select, and operate various respiratory equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
  • Perform suctioning procedures, including tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal techniques, as per guidelines.
  • Conduct arterial blood gas analyses and interpret results accurately.
  • Document and communicate all patient care activities and concerns effectively during shifts.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited Respiratory Care program and must provide proof of education upon hire. Candidates should possess either the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentials from the National Board of Respiratory Care, along with a valid license to practice in Connecticut. A current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is mandatory, while additional certifications such as NRP, NALS, PALS, and ACLS are preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of one year of relevant respiratory therapy experience within the last two years is required. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

CORE COMPETENCIES:

Successful candidates will exhibit a strong commitment to customer service, displaying patience and empathy while caring for a diverse patient population. Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is essential for effective communication with patients, colleagues, and healthcare providers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

This role requires a comprehensive understanding of respiratory equipment and monitoring systems, as well as the ability to perform patient assessments prior to initiating therapy. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and the ability to make informed decisions based on these guidelines.

Responsibilities also include ensuring compliance with safety protocols during medication administration and performing various respiratory therapies as ordered. The candidate will be expected to maintain accurate documentation of all procedures and interventions.
