Our Machinery and Equipment Specialties division is seeking a field engineer to conduct inspections of machinery and equipment boilers. This role can accommodate both trainees and seasoned field engineers.

Positions that serve territories outside of our headquarters are fully remote.

Compensation: The salary range for this role is $63,000 - $105,000 annually. Pay is determined based on the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on both company and individual performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee jurisdictional boiler and pressure vessel certificate inspections within your territory.
  • Effectively manage the assigned territory.
  • Educate agents on marketing machinery and equipment to their clientele.
  • Act as a professional resource for our insurance agents to retain business and enhance their marketing efforts.
  • Deliver a high level of claims service to our local independent insurance agents.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Strong time management abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to respond professionally in stressful situations to resolve issues effectively.
  • Capability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Proficiency in interacting and collaborating with various departments within our organization.
  • Skill in preparing meaningful and precise reports.

For Trainees:

  • An engineering or technically-oriented bachelor's degree or relevant boiler and pressure vessel work experience.
  • Ability to work independently to achieve objectives.
  • Strong customer service aptitude.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and prioritization skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and related software.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
  • Valid driver's license.

For Experienced Engineers:

  • Experience with machinery and equipment in a property and casualty insurance setting (preferred).
  • In-depth knowledge of machinery and equipment, equipment breakdown coverages, related business lines, regulations, and consensus standards (preferred).
  • A bachelor's degree relevant to the responsibilities of the position or equivalent experience and training.
  • A national board commission or the qualifications to obtain one promptly.
  • Strong consultative, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • A demonstrated commitment to continuing education.
  • Valid driver's license.
