This role is essential for those aspiring to become proficient in pharmacy operations while completing the necessary training program accredited by ASHP/ACPE. Candidates must fulfill all registration, licensing, and certification prerequisites as outlined by the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy. The comprehensive training program encompasses a total of 400.5 hours, with a portion of these hours allocated for paid training at the pharmacy, while the remainder is completed online. Commitment to finishing the program within a specified timeframe is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications for long-term care facilities serviced by Thrifty White Pharmacy.
- Respond to inquiries from local stores and provide appropriate referrals.
- Handle phone calls and address questions that do not necessitate a pharmacist's expertise.
- Participate in second checks as required.
- Accurately package medications into various systems, including EZ-Pack and 28-day packaging, utilizing both manual and automated methods.
- Maintain organized workspaces to ensure precise prescription filling.
- Perform cleaning duties within the pharmacy department.
- Ensure work areas are tidied and maintained daily.
- Adhere to company policies regarding loss prevention and security protocols.
- Engage in additional tasks during slower periods, such as restocking supplies and managing waste disposal.
- Develop familiarity with the JITI system and ensure its accuracy.
- Assist in managing drug inventory and handling expiring medications.
- Ensure proper processing of work orders to facilitate accurate filling.
- Understand the workflow of prescription processing within the pharmacy.
- Prepare and distribute medications to various filling stations.
- Exhibit a professional appearance in line with company standards.
- Receive and verify incoming merchandise, ensuring all items are in acceptable condition.
- Ensure proper documentation of all incoming and outgoing products.
- Label pharmaceuticals accurately upon receipt.
- Process returns and manage inventory records effectively.
- Adapt to new technologies and evolving job responsibilities as needed.
- Maintain flexibility in job roles and assist in various store functions.
- Basic understanding of business mathematics.
- Background in communications or public relations is advantageous.
- Prior experience in a customer service-oriented role is preferred.
- Completion of pharmacy technician training is desirable.
- Must be registered with the state or complete the PTCB certification process.
- Understand the requirements for maintaining licensure and continuing education.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong record-keeping skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with the public in sales situations.
- Competence in basic mathematical calculations.
- Capability to manage stressful situations and engage with challenging customers.
- Ability to foster positive working relationships with colleagues and supervisors.
- Comprehension of written and verbal instructions, with attention to detail.
- Recognize the limitations of the technician role and refer to a pharmacist when necessary.
- Proficient in using various office equipment and technology.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to support other locations.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
- Participate in cross-training and rotation of duties as directed.
This position requires a combination of in-office work and physical activity. Employees must be able to stand, talk, hear, and use hands for extended periods. Occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds may be necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
