Overview:
The Lead Pharmacist is tasked with supervising and directing the daily functions of the pharmacy department.
This role involves aiding in the onboarding of new personnel and training team members to effectively manage resident and patient prescriptions while consistently upholding professionalism and ensuring adherence to pharmacy regulations at both federal and state levels.
Additional duties encompass liaising with residents, patients, and facilities to resolve inquiries and concerns.Responsibilities:
Supervise the daily operations of the pharmacy department
Ensure compliance with all relevant federal and state pharmacy regulations
Effectively communicate with facilities, residents, and patients regarding inquiries and issues
Guarantee that staff deliver exceptional service standards
Assist in the onboarding and training of new personnel
Oversee and enhance staff training programs
Instruct team members to maintain professionalism and courtesy at all times
Program, direct, review, and amend pharmacy procedures.
Provide support to technical and professional staff in the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of various medications, including both non-sterile and sterile compounded products.
Formally request all necessary supplies.Establish and maintain a certified record-keeping system
Oversee inventory organization.
Design and structure job descriptions and conduct annual performance evaluations for all employees in a timely manner.
Assist in managing the annual budget for the department
Review and enhance the Policy and Procedure manual annually.
Implement quality improvement initiatives for the department.
Participate in the selection, orientation, supervision, and, when necessary, dismissal of departmental staff.
Plan, manage, organize, and effectively execute all activities related to pharmacy operations.
Provide guidance on medications, prescriptions, and over-the-counter products in accordance with long-term care standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
