Registered Nurse Apheresis Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse Apheresis to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and management of patients undergoing apheresis procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Utilize the nursing process to deliver and manage patient care from admission to discharge, tailored to the developmental age of the patient population.
- Perform patient assessments and reassessments according to standard procedure.
- Develop and coordinate individualized plans of care, including discharge planning.
- Direct, supervise, coordinate, and evaluate nursing care within assigned clinical settings.
- Delegate tasks appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
- Document patient care according to standard procedure.
- Develop, implement, and document education plans for patients, families, and significant others.
- Ensure quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other healthcare providers.
- Administer medications, perform treatments, therapies, and operate equipment according to policy and procedure.
- Participate in and support nursing governance activities.
- Assume responsibility for professional growth and assist in education and development of staff.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrate the use of quality improvement in daily operations.
- Current Massachusetts nursing licensure and registration.
- BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit-specific certifications and competencies.
- Thorough knowledge of the discipline of nursing.
- Bachelor of Science degree in nursing highly preferred.
Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a patient care environment. At least one (1) full year of experience managing patients on complex medical equipment requiring large amounts of extracorporeal blood for processing such as apheresis or dialysis. Effective communication and computer skills are required.
