Landscape Architecture Department Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Landscape Architecture Department Lead to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role will be responsible for overseeing the landscape architecture department, managing projects from concept through completion, and leading a team of landscape architects and designers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Department Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of landscape architects, designers, and support staff.
  • Set the vision for the department and ensure alignment with the company's goals and values.
  • Establish department processes, standards, and best practices to improve efficiency and project quality.
  • Manage department budgeting, resource allocation, and staffing.
  • Project Management:
  • Oversee all stages of project delivery, including conceptual design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying scales, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest design standards.
  • Collaborate with clients, architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Review and approve project designs, ensuring they meet both client needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Business Development:
  • Develop and maintain client relationships, actively pursue new business opportunities, and respond to RFPs.
  • Assist in marketing efforts by participating in networking events, industry conferences, and presentations to potential clients.
  • Work with leadership to establish and meet revenue goals for the department.
  • Design Excellence & Innovation:
  • Promote design excellence, creativity, and innovation within the department.
  • Ensure that sustainable and environmentally responsible design practices are incorporated into all projects.
  • Stay current on landscape architecture trends, local zoning regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other departments such as planning, civil engineering, and urban design to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and positive working environment within the department.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Professional licensure as a Landscape Architect in North Carolina, or the ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe.
  • 10+ years of experience in landscape architecture, with at least 5 years in a leadership or senior management role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex landscape architecture projects.
  • Strong design portfolio demonstrating a range of project types, including urban, residential, commercial, and public spaces.
  • In-depth knowledge of Charlotte's local landscape architecture trends, zoning codes, and environmental regulations is a plus.
  • Strong business development, client management, and proposal writing skills.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and 3D modeling software.
