Job Title: Safety Inspector

Cal-Western Manufactures is seeking a highly skilled Safety Inspector to join our Quality Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company safety standards, OSHA, and Cal/OSHA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, improve, and maintain Health & Safety Programs
  • Conduct safety assessments, PPE assessments, and complete safety inspection reports
  • Communicate with other department heads and assist with potential safety-related hazards and issues
  • Issue, monitor, and close safety-related work orders
  • Prepare daily/weekly safety inspection reports and establish OFIs and suggest CAPAs for safety-related issues
  • Keep compliance and safety boards up to date at each site
  • Assist with safety violations and remedies in response to external inspections/audits
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in safety, occupational health, or a related field and/or a minimum of 2 years' experience in health and safety
  • First Aid & CPR certificate preferred
  • Knowledge of health and safety programs, such as the equipment Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) Program preferred
  • Strong communication, observation, organization, and prioritization skills
  • In-depth knowledge of safety procedures, safety regulations, and industry standards
  • Good technical and IT skills
  • Excellent communication and listening skills (Bi-lingual: English / Spanish)
Work Environment:

The Safety Inspector will work primarily in the Production area of operations. The work environment can be fast-paced, with constant changes and interruptions. The work requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and office equipment. Additionally, the work will require walking, climbing stairs, bending, and occasional lifting of material up to fifty (50) pounds.

The performance of this position will present exposure to an industrial environment and requires support and compliance with the published Company PPE policy including but not limited to the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, appropriate attire, safety shoes, hearing protection, etc. It may also involve exposure to hot and cold temperatures, noise, limited dust, and chemicals and require adherence to safety regulations operations.

The Safety Inspector may need to work long hours to meet deadlines and resolve issues.
