Job Summary

The Speech Language Therapist will provide therapy and instruction to students in a district-wide setting. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree or higher, appropriate Missouri teaching certification, and a license issued by the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement the district-approved curriculum and adapt it to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress.
  • Create and implement a classroom discipline plan aligned with district expectations.
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain accurate student records.
  • Implement special education plans, such as 504 plans, individual education plans, and individual health plans.
  • Evaluate each pupil's growth in knowledge and skills as required by the individual student's plan.
  • Develop and implement a therapy schedule, working collaboratively with other staff members to maximize student learning and the use of district resources.
Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • Appropriate Missouri teaching certification and a license issued by the State Board of Registration for the Healing Arts.
Language

An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:

  • Read, analyze and interpret professional journals, Board policy, administrative procedures and forms and governmental regulations and guidance.
  • Read handwritten or printed material.
  • Complete forms, write reports and engage in written correspondence with parents.
  • Present information effectively and respond to questions.
Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form.

Other Skills and Abilities

Must have knowledge of behavior management strategies for instructional programs.

Must have knowledge of crisis management techniques and be prepared to learn the restraint and seclusion techniques/policies adopted by the school district.

Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail.

Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.

Ability to work independently.

Excellent human relation skills.
