The Certified Pharmacy Technician II provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding, and dispensing medications. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of medication preparation and delivery, as well as maintaining a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Compounds and prepares medications, including high-risk medication processes, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Delivers medications to patient areas and returns unused medications to the pharmacy.
- Documents pharmaceutical activities, including patient billing and quality control requirements.
- Responds to customer requests for assistance with pharmacy services.
- Operates and supports automated dispensing technology to supply correct medications for individual patients.
- Orders, receives, and restocks inventory, and completes expiration date management.
- Assists with training new employees and contributes to process improvement projects.
- Completes regulatory compliance inspections of medication storage areas.
- Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
- CPhT certification from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA (unless enrolled in a PharmD program).
- Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
UNC Health Care offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including a Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program with $1500 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period.
This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System.
