Position Overview:
The Orthopedic Surgeon plays a crucial role in the management of musculoskeletal disorders, providing both diagnostic and therapeutic interventions to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients, including initial histories and physical examinations.
- Perform a variety of surgical procedures, both major and minor, with a focus on achieving optimal results.
- Manage outpatient caseload and participate in orthopedic call duties as required.
- Prescribe appropriate medications and order necessary diagnostic tests, including lab work and imaging studies.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to departmental meetings and peer reviews.
- Supervise clinical staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient care.
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a valid medical degree and a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine. Board Certification or eligibility in orthopedic surgery is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in both verbal and written English.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in performing total joint surgical cases within the past year is highly desirable, along with expertise in hand, wrist, and elbow surgeries.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must meet specific physical standards, including the ability to lift and push within designated weight limits, and maintain coordination and depth perception during surgical procedures.
Patient Focus:
This role requires a deep understanding of the unique needs of patients, particularly veterans, ensuring sensitivity to age-related and culturally specific factors in care delivery.
