Key Responsibilities
  • Assist dentists in the administration of treatment, utilizing four-handed practices to ensure seamless care.
  • Prepare instruments, charts, and radiographs in advance to ensure a smooth patient experience.
  • Provide instruments at the correct time and in the proper sequence for any dental procedure.
  • Maintain a clean and sterile work area, adhering to OSHA guidelines and protocols.
  • Take x-rays using appropriate equipment, techniques, and precautions to protect patients from unnecessary radiation.
  • Develop, mount, and label x-rays properly as needed.
  • Review health history with patients prior to procedures as needed.
  • Stay up-to-date on medical conditions, their effects on treatment, and relevant medications.
  • Recognize medical emergencies and know how to react.
  • Promote an atmosphere supportive of good dental and general health.
Requirements
  • Certificate in dental assisting from an accredited technical college.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE) after 6 months of employment as an OS assistant.
  • Previous dental assistant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Hmong.
