About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mammography Technologist to join our team at Mount Sinai Health System. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for operating Mammographic Imaging Equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic x-ray films.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform screening and diagnostic procedures according to established standards and practices.
  • Apply technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality.
  • Assist patients in preparing and positioning for Mammographic procedures.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and semi-annual QC functions to ensure compliance with MQSA and ACR.
  • Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.
  • Ensure all radiographic images are appropriately labeled.
  • Assist physicians directly as required.
  • Operate specialized digital imaging equipment using established ACR and FDA guidelines.
  • Prepare sterile fields and trays for breast imaging procedures.
  • Maintain statistical reports for inspections by DOH, MQSA.
  • Employ radiation protection measures to minimize exposure to patients and hospital personnel.
  • Evaluate images for technical acceptability and ensure timely transmission to PACS.
  • Accurately record patient tracking information into IDX (Radiology Information System).
  • Schedule exams into IDX as required.
  • Inform supervisor or appropriate personnel of needed repairs to equipment or unsafe conditions.
  • Prevent the spread of infection to self, patients, visitors, and other employees.
  • Supervise radiology students assigned to the clinical area.
  • Perform related clerical duties in the absence of support personnel.
  • Attend in-services and other professional development meetings as required.
  • Maintain licensure specific to the job, adhering to Article 35 of the Public Health Code.
