Job Overview

Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace, Inc. is looking for a dedicated Facility Maintenance Technician to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of our facilities, promoting a safe and organized environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain floors and staircases through sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
  • Collect and dispose of waste, ensuring receptacles are clean and liners are replaced as needed.
  • Sanitize restrooms using appropriate cleaning agents and replenish supplies.
  • Ensure building security by locking doors post-operating hours and monitoring electrical appliance usage.
  • Perform carpet cleaning through steam cleaning or shampooing methods.
  • Utilize cleaning solutions effectively to eliminate stains and maintain surfaces, adhering to safety guidelines.
  • Wash windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using suitable cleaning tools.
  • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures, ensuring all surfaces are clean.
  • Conduct maintenance on walls, ceilings, and other structures using ladders as necessary.
  • Apply wax and polish to floors, ensuring ESD flooring is treated with approved products.
  • Handle outside grounds maintenance tasks as required.
  • Assist in moving heavy items, utilizing hand trucks when necessary.
  • Identify and report any maintenance needs or repairs.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Clear snow from walkways and apply salt to prevent ice accumulation.
  • Implement basic pest control measures as needed.
  • Restore interiors affected by fire, smoke, or water damage using professional cleaning equipment.
  • Keep track of cleaning supplies and request additional materials as needed.
  • Prepare facilities for events by setting up and removing furniture and decorations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of outdoor areas and parking lots.
  • Replace light bulbs and fuses as required.
  • Clean kitchen areas, including sinks, countertops, and appliances.
  • Manage recycling materials appropriately.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Conduct quality control checks on completed work.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of one year in building maintenance or cleaning is preferred.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Familiarity with standard cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Understanding of safety protocols and proper chemical usage.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to focus on tasks with attention to detail and multi-task effectively.
  • Frequent physical activity including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, and climbing.
