Description: Pain Specialists of America is a Texas-based, multisite comprehensive pain management company seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse to support our business and provide quality care to our patients.

Job Summary: The Registered Nurse will perform a variety of duties to ensure quality nursing care is provided in maintaining an atmosphere allowing for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of patients.

Detailed Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that physician orders are followed for all patients.
  • Apply knowledge, skill, and judgment to provide excellent and focused patient care.
  • Promote and participate in providing accurate recording of medications and treatments given to patients.
  • Post-anesthesia nursing practice includes systematic continuous assessment of the patient's condition, and collection, documentation, and communication of vital data.
  • Continuously measure patient progress toward designated outcomes and revise Care Plan and interventions as necessary.
  • Report significant observations and information to the physician, anesthesiologist, and/or CRNA.
  • Assess the patient response immediately post-operatively; report pertinent information; perform appropriate interventions and evaluate patient response.
  • Promote the improvement of nursing care within the Center.
  • Conform to and promote acceptance of established objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining a stock of supplies and equipment for the Center, and promote proper utilization of all.
  • Maintain Center drugs and reorders as needed; observe for outdated stock and follow proper disposal procedures; maintain emergency cart, equipment, and medications.
  • Evaluate the performance of assigned co-workers, reporting process or need for improvement to the Administrator.
  • Follow the chain of command, communicating reportable situations to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of management information, display discretion and good judgment in communication methods.
  • Adhere to all approved Center policies and procedures; notify supervisor of any deviation from approved policy.
  • Assist in the orientation of new employees to the Center.
  • Display ability to accept counseling from direct supervisor in a positive manner.
  • Display ability to and desire to initiate corrective action.
  • Become familiar with Center's Fire, Safety, and Disaster Plan, and his/her role in the event of each.
  • Display cost-effectiveness in materials management; assume responsibility for timely verification of supplies used in Center Requirements.

Education and Experience/Technical Skills:

  • This is a PRN position.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current registration with the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Evidence of current BLS certification.
  • Evidence of current ACLS certification; or certification within six months of hire.
  • One (1) year of previous nursing experience in hospital or ASC setting.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift twenty (20) pounds. Moving, lifting, or transferring patients may involve lifting up to fifty (50) pounds, as well as assisting with weights of more than one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills.
  • Visual acuity.
