Job Summary

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Adjunct Faculty member to teach part-time temporary courses in the Geography discipline. As a key member of our faculty team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, assessing student learning, and contributing to the development of our academic programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in the Geography discipline, including Introduction to Cultural Geography, Introduction to Geography, Introduction to Physical Geography, Maps and Mapping, United States Geography, and World Regional Geography.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans, assessments, and evaluations to ensure student learning and success.
  • Utilize instructional technologies and innovative teaching methods to engage students and promote academic excellence.
  • Provide individualized support and guidance to students, including office hours and academic advising.
  • Participate in program and curriculum review and development, and contribute to the improvement of our academic programs.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices in teaching and learning, and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in the discipline of instruction or a related field, or a Master's degree in any field with 15 hours of coursework in the discipline.
  • Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Subject matter expertise in the Geography discipline, with the ability to teach a variety of courses.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
