Travel Therapist for Long-Term Care Facilities

The Travel Physical Therapist provides essential physical therapy services to residents in long-term care facilities across various locations. This role involves evaluating patients, developing and implementing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions to enhance mobility, reduce pain, and improve the overall quality of life for patients with chronic conditions or disabilities.
Patient Evaluation
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of residents' physical conditions, including strength, range of motion, balance, coordination, and functional mobility.
Treatment Planning
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations, goals, and evidence-based practices, ensuring alignment with healthcare provider recommendations.
Responsibilities
- Implement therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques, modalities, and assistive device training to facilitate recovery and improve function.
- Educate patients and their families about treatment protocols, home exercises, and strategies to promote long-term health and prevent further injury.
- Track and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and provide comprehensive support to residents.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations, professional standards, and facility policies regarding patient care and documentation practices.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, clinical meetings, and professional development activities to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) or Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from an accredited program.
- Current physical therapy license in the state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in long-term care or geriatric physical therapy; travel therapy experience is a plus.
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to new environments and clinical settings.
- Must be able to lift, move, and assist patients, as well as stand for extended periods.
