Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer II to join our team at Freeport-McMoRan. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance on design, construction, and operation of mining equipment foundations, structural steel, and building infrastructure.

• Review and analyze designs and provide recommendations for improvement
• Manage small-to-medium-sized projects, including project planning, budgeting, and execution
• Evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic plans and budgets
• Assist in the development and evaluation of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) for capital funding
• Perform other duties as required

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum and three years of experience in an applicable engineering field, or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited curriculum and two years of experience in an applicable engineering field
• Knowledge of principles and practices of Civil, Geotechnical, Structural, or Hydrologic Engineering or a related field of Science or Engineering
• Knowledge of appropriate software (MS Office, AutoCAD, RISA 3D)
• Certified Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or equivalent
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a diversely educated audience
• Presentation of a positive, professional image
• Self-motivated, energetic, able to execute, and client-service oriented
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards

• PMP, EIT, and/or Project Management experience

• Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
• Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
• Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
• Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see
• Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty pounds during the course of the workday
• Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required
