Job Summary

The Mental Health Professional provides mental health clinical services to clients, reporting to the Program Director. This role involves assessing, intervening in crises, and providing individual and family therapy, plan development, group therapy, and case management services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide mental health services to children, youth, and families, including assessment, crisis intervention, individual and family therapy, plan development, group therapy, and case management.
  2. Deliver mental health services to children, youth, and care providers in various settings, such as client residences, schools, community locations, tele-health, and clinic sites.
  3. Document service provision for full-scope Medi-Cal and Short-Doyle beneficiaries under the age of 21, ensuring comprehensive, high-quality preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services under Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment Services (EPSDT).
  4. Develop Consumer Wellness Plans for assigned clients, identifying symptoms, resulting impairments, objectives, and treatment goals, and indicating services to guide service provision.
  5. Maintain a caseload of clients, monitor, and coordinate mental health services as outlined in Consumer Wellness Plans, ensuring individualized and family-focused mental health treatment.
  6. Collaborate with the treatment team, coordinating service delivery with Mental Health Rehabilitation Providers, Licensed Vocational Nurses/Licensed Psychiatric Technicians, Psychiatrists, and Administrative staff.
  7. Work with Community Partners to coordinate care, identify resources to reduce barriers for clients and families receiving mental health treatment.
  8. Complete progress notes documenting service provision in the electronic medical record (EMR) in a timely manner and in accordance with standards designated by the Program Director.
  9. Comply with program standards for documentation, evidence-based practices, treatment planning, discharge planning, and other indicators of quality assurance.
  10. Attend team/staff meetings regularly.
  11. Complete 40 hours of training specific to a Mental Health Professional.
  12. Follow reporting requirements for incidents of Child Abuse, Elder Abuse, Adult Abuse, Dependent Adult Abuse, and Tarasoff warnings per California reporting laws.
  13. Drive on Agency business.
  14. Be physically present at the office.
  15. Manage cell phone use to ensure the Agency cell phone stipend covers all business usage.
Requirements
  1. Licensed preferred: Licensed in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker or Marriage Family Child Therapist.
  2. Hours Completed: A Master's degree in behavioral science with a current intern registration (M.F.T. or L.C.S.W.) and hours completed.
  3. Unlicensed: A Master's degree in behavioral science with current intern registration (M.F.T. or L.C.S.W.).
  4. Demonstrated skills in clinical mental health services with individuals, families, and groups.
  5. Knowledge of mental illness and effective treatment approaches to mental disorders.
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills.
  7. Ability to operate within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  8. Ability to operate tele-health platforms.
  9. Availability by cell phone as needed.
  10. Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom, and other communication/meeting platforms.
  11. Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.
  12. Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  13. Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and TB test.
Requirements for Bilingual Skill
  1. Communicate effectively in written and spoken Spanish.
  2. Required ability to communicate effectively with monolingual Spanish-speaking clients and families for all clinical purposes.
  3. Assist with phone calls for Spanish clients.
  4. Required to provide language translations for case managers and Physicians on a periodic basis.
  5. Minimal adequate competency in the Spanish language as evidenced by successful passage of the TPOCC Spanish Competency Test.
  6. Other translation tasks as required.
